A few weeks ago I shared with you our newly painted stripes in our laundry room. We are still loving the yellow and grey in the room and wanted to incorporate more of that color combination around the room. I also needed a way to organize my mops, brooms, buckets etc. Check out the mess below!!
I’ve been seeing painted peg boards around and thought they were really cute, a smart organizational tool, and that it would be a fun addition to this room. So…. I decided on a yellow and grey Chevron Utility Peg Board. Having it in the room has really helped to get things off of the floor. I bought the peg board at Home Depot and while I was there trying to pull one off of the shelf a nice older man noticed that I was having trouble so he asked if he could help. I said sure, and he asked what I was going to do with it. So, I told him how I was going to paint it and make it look really cute in our laundry room for my mops and brooms and he just smiled and laughed and said, “Leave it up to a woman to go and make something pretty out of something meant for a mans work space. My wife would do the same thing. :)” He was such a cute older man and made me laugh!
And this is how I made a plain peg board into something cute for my laundry room! 🙂
1 Peg Board
Paint of your choice
First I painted the peg board yellow (September Morning by Behr) and let it dry.
Second, I taped the chevron stencil onto the board and painted it Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore. While using the stencil I held it down firmly with my hands to prevent the grey from bleeding onto the yellow. Even though I used painters tape around the edges I still needed to hold it down with my hands to assure that it wouldn’t leak through.
After letting my board dry I hung it up onto the wall. Be sure that when you do hang it on the wall that you leave enough space to put the hooks into the holes. If the board is too close to the wall then you wont be able to fit the hooks into the holes.
Ahhh, so much better!! I’m loving my new little space of organization. I love having everything off of the floor!
I hope that everyone has a blessed week this week and is enjoying the start to your summer. 🙂
